Ali Baba (trading as Alibaba Tandoori & Curry Restaurant) is a Pattaya institution — by its own account the city's longest-serving Indian restaurant, open since 1984 and now well past its 40th year. It sits on Central Pattaya Road (Pattaya Klang), a couple of hundred metres in from the beach between Beach Road and Second Road, which makes it one of the most convenient Indian meals in the tourist core. The kitchen is classic North Indian and tandoori: aromatic curries from butter chicken to rogan josh, sizzling tandoori platters, biryanis, dals and a full range of freshly baked naan and roti, with a generous vegetarian selection alongside the meat. Four decades in business have earned it a solid following among tourists and expats, and it holds a respectable Tripadvisor rating (around 4.1 of 5 across several hundred reviews, ranked in the city's upper tier) — good rather than flawless, with the occasional off-note you'd expect from a high-volume veteran. Prices are mid-range: most curries run a few hundred baht, so a shared spread with breads and rice is very reasonable for the quality. The air-conditioned dining room is comfortable if unshowy — this is a place trading on consistency and longevity rather than the latest design — and it offers delivery and catering as well as sit-down meals. For a dependable, central Indian dinner with genuine heritage, it's a safe bet.
