Status correction — 7 September 2026: Suttangrak is closed in the stored 24 July 2026 evidence; Savoey Terminal 21 remains unconfirmed after the stored 26 August 2026 review. These branch-status corrections use the existing July and August evidence. They do not make the remaining seafood entries newly verified in September.

Pattaya’s seafood meal can be a huge Thai family table, a whole fish ordered from the tank, a polished air-conditioned dinner or a sunset plate with sand under the chair. Those are different experiences, and the best restaurant for one can be frustrating for another.

We focused on kitchens with a genuine seafood identity and a clear reason to choose them. Current market prices are deliberately omitted. At any restaurant selling by weight, ask the price, confirm the weight and agree on preparation before the catch reaches the kitchen. That simple exchange prevents most disputes and makes comparison far more useful than an old menu photograph.

Seafood comparisons and historical branch records

Mum Aroi Naklua — best famous local choice

Mum Aroi’s vast open-air terrace at the end of Naklua Soi 4 is one of Pattaya’s defining Thai seafood rooms. Tanks and displays feed a long menu of steamed fish, crab, prawns, salads and soups for sharing, while a live evening atmosphere keeps the operation lively. Popularity brings crowds, brisk service and little intimacy. Go with several diners, arrive before peak demand if a water-facing table matters and order a balanced spread rather than allowing every person to point at a premium shellfish.

Pupen Seafood Restaurant — best Jomtien institution

Trading on the Jomtien coast since 1986, Pupen is built for volume: large dining areas, beachside seating and a deep selection of Thai seafood prepared for families and Bangkok weekend groups. Its longevity and scale make it a reliable destination, but busy periods produce waits and functional rather than personal service. Weekday meals are calmer. Choose Pupen when the group wants a broad feast and everyone understands weight-based ordering; choose a smaller room when quiet pacing matters.

Preecha Seafood — best destination value

Preecha is a long-running beachside seafood house south of the city, with live tanks, open-air tables and little interest in decorative polish. Thai families come for straightforward grilled, steamed and stir-fried catch at a fairer overall proposition than many view-led venues. The drive is substantial and English support can be more limited, so this is a meal to plan rather than stumble across. It rewards confident shared ordering, a willingness to point at the day’s best catch and diners who value sea breeze over white tablecloths.

Suttangrak — permanently closed

Suttangrak Pattaya is permanently closed in the stored 24 July 2026 evidence. Google’s exact-branch record identified the former restaurant at 99 Moo 1, Na Jomtien Beach Road. Older Wongnai and Tripadvisor profiles preserve its identity, not proof of current service.

The former waterfront restaurant was associated with Thai seafood, open-air and air-conditioned seating, live music and group meals. Its published 1971 lineage began in Laem Chabang; it does not establish that the Na Jomtien branch traded there from the early 1970s. No verified successor or reopening is recorded. Do not use its old menu, phone or address as a current dining plan.

Nang Nual — best central classic

Nang Nual has fed Walking Street for more than half a century, with iced seafood displays, tanks and waterfront tables behind the neon frontage. Its strengths are history, selection and the ability to turn a nightlife evening into a proper meal without a cross-city journey. Tourist positioning affects the price and the large room can be noisy. Confirm weight before cooking, request a water-side table and enjoy it as part of the South Pattaya spectacle rather than expecting a hidden local secret.

Rim Talay Seafood & Steak Restaurant — best sand-side choice

Rim Talay places tables beside Wong Amat sand near Centara Grand Mirage, with à la carte seafood, steaks and recurring grill or buffet formats. The relaxed beach position works for families and diners who want sunset without formal clothing. Feedback on buffet value is less consistent than the appeal of fresh à la carte ordering, so selecting directly from the seafood display is the safer judgment. Choose it for an easy northern beach dinner and check the current format before assuming a buffet runs.

The Glass House — best romantic seafood

Driftwood styling, lanterns and tables spilling onto the Na Jomtien sand make The Glass House the most deliberately romantic seafood setting in this list. The broad Thai, seafood and international menu supports mixed groups, while the beachfront position turns an early dinner into an occasion. Atmosphere creates demand and a setting premium; weekend sunset tables need planning. Book it when a couple values the full scene, and use the larger local institutions when seafood volume and value lead the decision.

The current operator menu names grilled river prawn, grilled squid and roe, creamy giant-prawn tom yum and crispy seabass with fish sauce, while the venue page separates beach, boho-style and air-conditioned seating. Specify the preferred zone when reserving.

Savoey Seafood — operation unconfirmed

Savoey Seafood at Terminal 21 Pattaya remains unconfirmed. During the stored 26 August 2026 review, it did not surface in the mall’s Food & Beverage directory, while Tabelog carried an unconfirmed listing. Those signals did not resolve current operation.

Historical mall material supports the branch identity and its former third-floor Terminal 21 location at 777 Moo 6, North Pattaya Road. The group’s wider history and signature dishes do not prove that this branch is serving those dishes now. The former direct number, hours, live-tank description and family/weatherproof recommendation are withdrawn.

Use Terminal 21 Pattaya’s official contact page to ask whether Savoey is a present tenant before making a trip. The older Savoey URLs remain in the sources as historical references, not confirmation of a current restaurant.

How to choose

For a famous Thai-family feast, compare Mum Aroi and Pupen. Compare Preecha for a planned trip south. Nang Nual is the central historic choice, Rim Talay the sand-side comparison and The Glass House the romantic setting. Suttangrak is closed and Savoey remains unconfirmed, so neither supplies a dependable dining option here.

Order for the table, not as individual mains. One premium catch, simpler grilled shellfish, vegetables and rice produce a more balanced meal and a more controllable bill than eight independent market-price decisions.

Frequently asked questions

How does seafood-by-weight ordering work?

Choose the fish or shellfish, ask for the weight and per-unit price, agree on the cooking method and confirm whether preparation carries an added charge.

Which area has the best seafood restaurants?

Naklua and Na Jomtien have the strongest waterfront institutions, while central Pattaya offers historic convenience. Savoey at Terminal 21 is unconfirmed, so it is not a dependable indoor option here.

What should I order?

A balanced shared meal might include a whole steamed fish, grilled prawns or squid, one crab or shellfish dish, vegetables, rice and a spicy salad.

Which restaurant suits children?

Mum Aroi and Pupen provide the large-family comparisons, but their scale and busy service can feel noisy. Savoey's operation and facilities are unconfirmed; check an operating venue's current seating before making a family plan.

How do I avoid a surprise bill?

Confirm weight and price before cooking, ask whether a dish uses market pricing and review the written order. Imported lobster and large live fish can change the total quickly.
