Sugar Hut

Sugar Hut is one of Pattaya's most romantic dining destinations — a Thai restaurant and small resort that opened in 1984 and has spent four decades as a special-occasion favourite. It sits off Thappraya Road, on the hill between South Pattaya and Jomtien, and the moment you turn down its leafy lane the city disappears: you drive in through tropical gardens, past signs warning you to mind the resort's free-roaming rabbits. Dining is in high-roofed Ayutthaya-style teak salas raised around a courtyard, where you remove your shoes at the step; one sala keeps the old Thai tradition of low tables and floor seating. The menu is mainly Thai — curries, spicy salads, whole fish, tom yum and traditional desserts — with a dedicated European section, a vegetarian page and a modest wine list for mixed tables. It's an award-winning, upmarket venue priced in line with Pattaya's international resorts rather than a cheap local kitchen, and what you're really paying for is the atmosphere. Come for a couples' dinner or an anniversary, book ahead at weekends, and arrive as the light fades to see the gardens at their best.

Yupins

Yupin's is a small family-run restaurant inside the Jomtien Complex that has quietly become one of the area's most consistent dinner spots. Yupin runs the kitchen; her husband Peter, with decades in catering and wine, runs the front — and that split shows in both directions. The menu is half fine Thai (including Isaan and southern dishes done properly, not toned down unless you ask) and half genuinely good European cooking: steaks, duck, sizzling prawns and daily specials that regulars rave about on Tripadvisor, where the restaurant held a Certificate of Excellence for five straight years. The wine list is a real feature — a broad range at markups well below Pattaya restaurant norms, which Peter treats as a point of pride. It is evenings-only, closed Wednesdays, and small enough that booking is strongly advised between 6pm and 8pm; call after 3pm to reserve. Prices are mid-range — mains mostly in the 200–500 baht bracket — which for the cooking quality is one of Jomtien's better deals. Suits couples and small groups who want a proper sit-down dinner near the Complex rather than bar food.

Surf Kitchen

Surf Kitchen is a long-running Jomtien Beach Road restaurant serving Thai, Asian and European food from breakfast to dinner. Its broad menu, open-front setting and separate smoking and non-smoking areas suit mixed groups, while current published dishes mostly sit in the mid-hundreds of baht. The strongest orders are Thai; recent reviews are less consistent about Western dishes, service and card-payment rules.
