Larn Thong is the signature Thai restaurant of the Royal Cliff Grand Hotel, part of the Royal Cliff Hotels Group on the Pratumnak headland at the southern edge of Pattaya. When trading, it is a smart, sit-down Thai dining room serving regional dishes — think spicy pomelo salad with prawns, massaman beef curry and pad Thai — with a choice of an elegant indoor room or an al-fresco terrace overlooking the bay. It has also been the home of the hotel’s long-running Saturday Evening Grand BBQ Buffet.

Current status

The hotel’s separate facilities-hours page lists Larn Thong as breakfast-only from 06:30-10:30 and advertises a monthly Saturday Grand BBQ Buffet, while the specific Larn Thong restaurant page says temporarily closed. That is a live first-party schedule conflict; the restaurant page is the more specific status source, so confirm with Royal Cliff rather than treating the breakfast line as proof of reopening. At our latest check, the Royal Cliff’s own website lists Larn Thong as temporarily closed until further notice. Because of that, we are not publishing current opening hours, prices or a live review — it would not be fair to send readers to a restaurant that the hotel itself says is not currently operating.

Older evidence is clearly historical: Pattaya Mail described daily 07:00-22:30 hours and secure hotel parking, and a 2022 Royal Cliff flyer still presented Larn Thong as an authentic-Thai restaurant.

What to do

The dedicated English and Thai restaurant pages repeat the temporary-closure status, while the facilities-hours page still exposes breakfast and last-Saturday BBQ timings. For Larn Thong, that is a first-party schedule conflict to resolve with the hotel before travelling. Royal Cliff’s current facilities page lists Larn Thong for breakfast only, 06:30-10:30, and separately lists the last-Saturday Grand BBQ Buffet, 18:45-22:30. The dedicated restaurant page still says temporarily closed, so those hours identify the hotel’s current schedule surface rather than proving a reopening. Call the hotel at +66 38 250 421 before travelling; its other restaurants may be operating on different schedules.

Khraw Baan Por Ta (Khrua Ban Po Ta)

Khraw Baan Por Ta — more commonly romanised Khrua Ban Po Ta, Thai for 'father-in-law's kitchen' — is a MICHELIN Guide-listed Thai seafood restaurant on Soi Pattaya Tai 8 in South Pattaya. It is the classic locals' seafood house: a breezy, plant-filled open dining room set back from the tourist strip, big portions, honest prices, and a menu built around shrimp, squid and crab cooked a dozen ways. The Michelin inspectors single out the stir-fried squid in black ink sauce and the whole crab stir-fried with curry powder; Thai food media add the crab fried rice, grilled squid and tom yum to the must-order list. Most seafood dishes sit in the low hundreds of baht, so a big shared meal costs a fraction of what beachfront seafood restaurants charge. It opens all day, 9am to 9pm, has its own parking, and draws far more Thai families and Bangkok day-trippers than foreign tourists — which tells you most of what you need to know.
