About
Every expat food scene eventually produces one non-negotiable institution, and for Pattaya’s Australians it’s Tinnies. This Aussie-owned gourmet pie café in Jomtien Complex Plaza has spent years perfecting exactly one argument-settler: a real meat pie — top-quality Australian beef slow-cooked in dark gravy, a puff-pastry lid over a shortcrust base, “like your mom used to bake” as the café itself puts it.
The numbers behind the nostalgia are serious: roughly 4.4 on TripAdvisor from 200+ reviews, ranking around #3 of all restaurants in Jomtien Beach, plus a 4.5 on Google and a 98% recommendation rate on Facebook. It’s even been featured on Thai national TV (Khrua Khun Toi). For a pie shop, that’s a mic drop.
Menu highlights & prices
The menu goes far beyond the classic beef pie:
- Aussie meat pies — the flagship; also steak variants, sausage rolls and pasties, available hot in the café or frozen to take home.
- Family-size pies and party packs — for gatherings, ovens and hoarders.
- Parmigianas & schnitzels — Aussie beef, pork or chicken, done properly with the works.
- Sandwich bar — freshly baked baguettes; the hickory-smoked Aussie beef brisket sandwich (100g brisket, salad, homemade beetroot, cheese) was about ฿320 at last check.
- Aussie desserts — lamingtons, caramel and vanilla slices, lemon meringue, egg custard tarts, Anzac biscuits.
- Thai menu — tom yum goong, pad krapow with Aussie beef, pad see ew and more, for mixed tables.
Individual pies and rolls sit at bakery-counter prices, with plated meals and specialty sandwiches climbing into the low hundreds of baht. Prices and the lineup change — the official site’s ordering pages are kept current, so check there rather than relying on old photos.

Location & getting there
Tinnies is at 413/134 Moo 12, inside Jomtien Complex Plaza at Soi 3, just off Thappraya Road where Pratumnak rolls down toward Jomtien:
- From Jomtien Beach Road: walk to the northern (Dongtan) end and cut into the Jomtien Complex Plaza; Tinnies is at Soi 3.
- From central Pattaya: 10–15 minutes by baht bus over Pratumnak via Thappraya Road, or by Grab/Bolt — search “Tinnies Pies”.
- Parking is available around the complex.
Good to know
Two visits are really on offer here: the café visit and the freezer run. Eat-in regulars treat it as a breakfast-and-lunch spot — pies come out hottest mid-morning, and the dessert cabinet is best before the afternoon crowd has picked it over. The freezer run is the expat institution: frozen pies, family-size pies, parmigianas, sausages and complete home-made meals, bought by the bagful for the week or shipped across Thailand on the Monday/Wednesday/Friday refrigerated dispatch. Orders can be placed through the website, Line shopping or Facebook, with bank-transfer and card-link payment. If you’re comparing it with the handful of other pie sellers in town, note what the reviews consistently say: it’s the pastry that separates Tinnies — the puff-top, shortcrust-bottom construction survives both the hot cabinet and the freezer. Weekends get busy with the post-beach crowd; weekday mornings are the calm slot.
Our verdict
It would be easy to file Tinnies under expat comfort-food nostalgia and move on — but the cooking is simply too good for that. The pastry work is genuine, the brisket is smoked in-house, the dessert cabinet is dangerous, and the kitchen feeds homesick Australians, curious tourists and Thai TV crews with the same consistency. It’s a daytime café, not an evening destination, and Tuesday closures catch people out — plan around both. If you’re staying in Jomtien or Pratumnak, breakfast or a pie-and-slice lunch here should be on your list; if you live anywhere in Thailand, the frozen delivery service is a quiet lifesaver.

Detailed facts, cautions, facilities & reviews
Full overview
Tinnies Pies is Pattaya's Aussie pie institution: an Australian-owned gourmet pie café in Jomtien Complex Plaza (off Thappraya Road) baking proper meat pies the way expat Aussies argue about — slow-cooked Australian beef in dark gravy, puff-pastry top, shortcrust bottom. It's ranked around #3 of all Jomtien Beach restaurants on TripAdvisor (about 4.4 from 200+ reviews, 4.5 on Google), which is remarkable for what is essentially a bakery-café. Beyond the classic meat pies and sausage rolls there's a full menu of Aussie comfort food: beef, pork and chicken parmigianas and schnitzels, freshly baked baguette sandwiches (the hickory-smoked beef brisket, about ฿320, is the flagship), Thai standards, and a dessert cabinet of lamingtons, vanilla slices, lemon meringue and egg custard tarts. A big part of the business is frozen: pies, family-size pies and homemade meals delivered anywhere in Thailand by refrigerated transport, plus Grab delivery around Pattaya and Jomtien. Open early for breakfast through dinner, closed Tuesdays. If the words 'proper meat pie' mean anything to you, this is the place; if not, the parmigiana will explain.
