International Schools in Pattaya: A Family Guide

Choosing an international school near Pattaya is partly an education decision and partly a household logistics decision. The area offers British, American and International Baccalaureate pathways, but major campuses sit across Pattaya, Bang Lamung, Pong, Khao Mai Kaew and the industrial Eastern Seaboard. A daily route that looks short on a map can dominate family life.

Start with the child: current curriculum, age, language profile, learning needs and likely destination after school. Then compare the full cost and commute. A brand name cannot compensate for a broken academic transition or an exhausting school run.

The main pathways

Schools use broad labels, but parents need the detail beneath them.

Regents International School Pattaya publishes English National Curriculum-based learning and senior options that include A-levels and the IB Diploma. Its IB status can be checked directly in the International Baccalaureate’s school directory.

International School Eastern Seaboard describes an American-style programme, an American high-school diploma and the IB Diploma Programme for Grades 11–12. International School of Chonburi publishes fees through primary years. Rugby School Thailand operates a British-style day and boarding school across a wider age range.

These descriptions identify different routes; they are not a ranking. Ask admissions to map the child’s present work to the proposed entry year and show the subjects available at the point the child will reach them.

Current published fee examples

The figures below were checked against school pages on 26 July 2026. They illustrate scale, not a direct value comparison, because year groups, facilities, day lengths and included services differ.

Regents International School Pattaya

Regents’ 2026–27 annual-payment discount schedule runs from ฿440,800 in pre-nursery to ฿854,050 in Years 12–13. The school also lists:

• a ฿7,500 application fee;
• enrolment fees of ฿60,000 for pre-nursery through reception and ฿107,000 for Years 1–13;
• examination charges outside ordinary tuition in relevant senior years; and
• separate boarding charges for boarding pupils.

The discount depends on payment timing, so compare the amount and deadline with instalment options. Do not budget from the tuition line alone.

Rugby School Thailand

Rugby’s published 2026–27 annual tuition is divided by section. Pre-nursery through Year 2 ranges from ฿345,000 to ฿736,000; Years 3–8 from ฿765,000 to ฿868,000; and Years 9–13 from ฿949,000 to ฿999,000.

Its page also lists a ฿5,500 application fee, a ฿200,000 acceptance fee for day pupils, a ฿100,000 refundable deposit and separate boarding fees where applicable. English-language or other support can cost extra. Read the refund, notice and payment terms rather than assuming that every upfront amount returns automatically.

International School of Chonburi

ISC’s discounted annual 2026–27 examples include ฿174,600 for half-day early years, ฿295,074 for reception, ฿342,216 for Years 1–2 and ฿359,676 for Years 3–6. Its page separately lists application, registration and insurance charges, additional English-language support and transport zones.

ISC covers a different age range and school model from a large all-through campus. Its lower published figures therefore answer a budget question, not whether it is an academic substitute for every family.

Build a complete first-year total

Ask each admissions team for one written quotation using the child’s intended start date, year group and services. Include:

1. application and assessment charges;
2. registration, acceptance or enrolment fees;
3. tuition under the payment schedule you will actually use;
4. refundable deposits and their notice conditions;
5. transport, meals, uniform and devices;
6. English-language, learning or individual support;
7. examination and activity charges; and
8. boarding, if relevant.

Separate non-refundable cost from refundable cash tied up. A deposit may return later but still raises the amount needed before the first school day.

If joining mid-year, ask how tuition is prorated and whether registration charges remain full. If an employer contributes, confirm whether it pays the school directly and which fee categories the benefit excludes.

Location and the school run

The school map should be viewed alongside the home map:

• Regents is in the Pong area east of central Pattaya.
• Rugby School Thailand is at Khao Mai Kaew.
• ISE is in Bowin, closer to Eastern Seaboard employment zones than Pattaya Beach.
• ISC is in Bang Lamung.

Run the route on a normal weekday at the proposed departure and return times. Then ask for the current bus stop, collection window, supervision arrangements, transport charge and policy when a pupil stays for an activity.

Families with one parent working on an industrial estate may find an eastern campus practical even if it is far from the beach. Families based in Jomtien or Pratumnak may experience the reverse. Choose home and school as one system.

Language and learning support

The phrase “support available” is too broad for a decision. Ask:

• Who assesses English and learning needs?
• Is support delivered inside class, separately or both?
• How many sessions are offered and who provides them?
• Is there an additional charge?
• How is progress reported?
• Can the school meet the child’s documented needs now?

Regents and ISE both describe English-language support, while the fee pages for Rugby and ISC show that some support may cost extra. Supply reports early and request a written explanation of the proposed provision. Admissions availability is not the same as a guaranteed specialist service.

Verify accreditation and outcomes

Check authorisation with the awarding or accrediting body, not only on a school marketing page. For an IB route, use the official IB directory and confirm the programme, because a school may be authorised for one age range but not another.

Ask which qualifications the current cohort will sit, which subjects can run with small numbers, and how university or transition advice works. Historical results can provide context, but they do not predict one child’s experience.

For younger children, observe routines, play, communication and teacher interaction. For older pupils, speak directly about subject choices, timetable clashes and requirements for the intended university system.

A useful visit sequence

Visit serious candidates during ordinary teaching, not only an open-day presentation. A structured visit should cover:

1. a classroom at the child’s likely year;
2. the relevant support staff;
3. lunch and break supervision;
4. transport arrangements;
5. safeguarding and parent communication;
6. the complete written fee schedule; and
7. the next step if the school cannot meet a need.

Bring the same questions to every campus and write down answers immediately. Consistent comparison is more useful than a general impression of grounds or facilities.

Bottom line

Pattaya-area families have credible choices across several curricula and price levels. Narrow them by academic continuity and support first, then calculate the complete first-year cost and test the daily route. The school that works is the one the child can attend, afford and progress through sustainably, not simply the campus with the strongest brochure.
