Avani Pattaya Resort

Some Pattaya hotels make you feel like you’re staying in a city; the Avani makes you feel like you’ve slipped into a garden that happens to be in the city. Set just back from Beach Road on around 14 acres of mature grounds, it trades height for greenery — big shade trees, a generous pool, and a calmer pace than the towers all around it.

From Marriott to Avani

If the name looks new but the place feels established, that’s because it is. This resort spent years as the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa before operator Minor Hotels rebranded it to AVANI Pattaya Resort & Spa on 1 November 2016, refurbishing the roughly 298 rooms and suites in the process. The vibe

It’s a relaxed, mid-range-to-upscale resort with a loyal following, and the grounds are the star. A large pool sits ringed by planting, with enough space that it rarely feels packed, and the whole property has a green, low-slung calm that’s genuinely rare this close to the centre of town. Rooms are comfortable and unfussy — set in low garden wings and towers, most with balconies or terraces looking over the greenery rather than a headline sea view.

That’s the honest trade-off here: you swap the glass-tower sea panorama for space, shade and quiet. For a lot of returning visitors, that’s exactly the deal they want.

Location

The location is the quiet superpower. You’re steps from Beach Road, right beside Central Festival mall and the beach (about 50 metres away), yet screened from the noise by the gardens. That means you can walk out into the full swing of Central Pattaya in minutes — malls, restaurants, the beachfront — then retreat into a leafy hush afterwards. Walking Street is a longer stroll or a quick baht-bus ride south.

Good to know

• Not beachfront: The beach is a short walk across Beach Road, not directly outside — factor that in if stepping straight onto sand matters to you.
• Low-rise: Big sea-view rooms are limited; most look over the gardens. Ask at booking if a view is a priority.
• Noise: A central address means some rooms can catch street sound — request a quieter garden-facing room.
• Facilities: Expect a spa, fitness centre and on-site restaurants alongside the pool and gardens.

Who it’s for

Choose the Avani if you want central convenience without the high-rise intensity — close enough to walk to the beach, mall and nightlife, but able to disappear into a quiet garden afterwards. It’s a strong pick for couples, families and repeat visitors who already know they don’t need to be right on the sand and would rather have space and calm. If a beachfront room and a soaring sea view are non-negotiable, one of the glossy Beach Road towers will suit you better — but few of them come with 14 acres of garden in the middle of the city.
