The Train Resort
The Train Resort is Pattaya's best-known novelty stay: a garden resort near Jomtien where a row of vintage railway carriages has been converted into hotel rooms, parked around a large free-form swimming pool. It leans hard into the theme — a real diesel locomotive and passenger coaches on a length of track, station-style signage, and carriage rooms with the original curved windows — but pairs the gimmick with a genuinely comfortable full-service resort. Alongside the converted-carriage rooms there are standard hotel rooms in a low-rise block, and facilities run deeper than the novelty suggests: the big pool has a jacuzzi and kids' area, plus there's a sauna and spa (the property trades as 'The Train Resort Sauna & Spa'), a restaurant and pool bar, a small fitness room, minigolf and free parking. It sits on the Sukhumvit Road side of the Jomtien/Nong Prue area — set back from the seafront rather than on it, roughly a five-to-ten-minute drive or ride to Jomtien Beach, and handy for the Thepprasit Night Market. Rates are mid-range and usually sit around 1,000–2,000 baht a night, with the carriage rooms priced above the standard rooms; it is popular with families, couples after something different and train enthusiasts. Book the carriage rooms ahead — they sell out first — and confirm current prices before you travel.
