Private pool or pool access
Hotels use the same few words for quite different rooms, so read the room page before you pay.
- Private pool villa or private-pool suite: a pool for your room alone, on its own terrace or in a walled garden.
- Pool access: your terrace or balcony opens onto a pool the hotel shares with other rooms. It is private only as far as your own deck.
- Pool view: a room that looks at a pool and has no way into it from the room.
The size a hotel gives can be the indoor space only. InterContinental, for example, lists its villas' indoor space and terrace separately.

Naklua and Wong Amat
Cape Dara Resort lists a one-bedroom Dara Private Pool Suite with a sea view on the first floor of its beachfront building, and a five-bedroom Top Star Private Pool Residence of 855 m² with a kitchen and living room. Its site gives the suite's size as both 40 m² and 41–48 m², so ask which you are booking.
Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort has two suites with their own pool: the two-level Royal Two-Bedroom Duplex Ocean Suite, 326 m² with a private pool on a terrace facing the gulf, for up to five adults and two children, and the 334 m² Presidential Ocean Pool Suite. Both include club access.
Pullman Pattaya Hotel G sells a Premium Pool Access Room on the ground floor of its Pool Wing: 42 m², a king bed or two singles, and a balcony with direct access to the pool and garden.
North Pattaya and Pratumnak
Amari Pattaya, at the north end of Beach Road, has poolside club suites with direct pool access from the balcony: two bedrooms and 97 m² for up to four adults, or three bedrooms and 164 m² for up to six.
InterContinental Pattaya Resort on Pratumnak has two Beachfront Pool Villas with a private infinity pool and sundeck: one bedroom with 125 m² inside, or two bedrooms with 210 m², each with a 50 m² terrace. It also sells pool-access rooms and junior suites.
Na Jomtien
Ravindra Beach Resort & Spa lists a One Bedroom Pool Villa of 128 m² with a private pool, and a Two Bedroom Pool Villa of 203 m² near the beach; the two-bedroom page does not say whether its pool is private, so ask.
Sea Sand Sun Resort & Villas, at the southern end of Na Jomtien, sells a Pool Villa Suite of 200 m²: a stand-alone villa with a private outdoor pool and a large balcony.
What to check before you book
- The exact room name: book the pool room by the name on the hotel's site; a 'villa' or 'suite' without the word pool may not have one.
- Private or shared: ask whether anyone else can use the pool your room opens onto, and what you can see from the neighbouring rooms.
- Children: a pool at the door needs watching all the time; ask whether the hotel can fence or cover it, or choose a room without one.
- The beach: a pool villa is not always on the sand: beachfront hotels explains which grounds reach the beach.
- What the rate includes: club access, breakfast and transfers differ by room type, so compare the totals for your dates.

What is a pool-access room?
A room whose terrace or balcony opens straight onto a swimming pool that other rooms share. It saves the walk to the pool but is not a private pool.
Are there pool villas for families?
Yes. Several are two-bedroom: Centara Grand Mirage's duplex ocean suite takes up to five adults and two children, Amari's poolside suites take four to six people, and InterContinental and Ravindra both sell two-bedroom pool villas. See also family hotels.
