What Simple Simon was

An Agoda Thai result currently titled Simon Place, not Simple Simon, describes a 48-room, two-star property with a 2010 renovation note. That separate name and accommodation record do not show that the former Jomtien business reopened or became a hotel; keep it out of the closed Soi 5 identity until an operator connects the records.

Simple Simon traded for years at 75/30–31 Moo 12 on Jomtien Soi 5. The verified record describes it as an English-style butcher and pie shop combined with a restaurant and bar.

Closure evidence

The Pattaya Mail record adds page-specific historical detail: Simple Simon advertised private-event catering, free delivery and a butcher range that included pies, sausage rolls and black pudding. Those services identify the former Jomtien business but do not survive its May 2021 closure.

Pattaya Mail reported the business closing in May 2021, during the pandemic. The current map search also carries a permanently closed result and finds no operating Jomtien match. A later Thai Wongnai listing uses the same name at 40/7 Thung Klom-Tan Man 9, gives phone 062 650 5737, daily 09:00-19:30 hours, parking and delivery; an ASEANNOW discussion also mentions a move to Padtanakan under new management. The different address, language context and later date make this an identity question rather than a clean continuation. These records may describe a later same-name business, but they do not prove that the Jomtien hotel route is a current booking option.

What replaced it

For this former Jomtien business, no successor at the old address is documented. The later same-name listing is a separate, unresolved identity question rather than evidence that the old premises reopened. Simple Simon is also described as a venue rather than a hotel, so the retained /hotels/ route is a legacy collection mismatch for the site owner to resolve separately. The former address remains useful only for identifying the closed business, not for booking accommodation.

Grand Jomtien Palace

A big, long-established resort hotel on Jomtien Beach Road, directly across from the sand near the northern end of the strip. What it lacks in modern polish it makes up in facilities for the price: three outdoor pools, gardens, a pool bar, on-site restaurants and massage. Rooms are dated but cheap, and the location puts the beach, money changers, 7-Elevens and Jomtien Night Market within a short walk.

Jellyfish Hostel

Jellyfish Hostel is a small, well-run budget guesthouse in the heart of Jomtien, a short walk from both Jomtien Beach and the quieter Dongtan Beach. Despite the 'hostel' name it is really a compact guesthouse: it has only around seven rooms, and they are private rooms with their own en-suite bathrooms, air-con, TV and a fridge rather than big backpacker dorms — so solo travellers, couples and friends get a cheap, clean, private base without paying hotel prices. It earns consistently high review scores (in the mid-8s out of 10 across the booking sites), and the praise is always the same: spotlessly clean rooms and floors, genuinely friendly and helpful staff, and an unbeatable location for the money, steps from the beach, restaurants, convenience stores and the Jomtien baht-bus route. Rooms start from around 600 baht a night (roughly US$17), rising a little in high season, which makes it one of the better-value beach-adjacent stays in Jomtien. It is a simple, no-frills operation — don't expect a pool, a restaurant or 24-hour reception — but for travellers who mainly want somewhere tidy, secure and close to the sand to sleep and shower between beach days, it punches well above its price. Book ahead, because with so few rooms it fills up fast in peak months.
