The Imperial Pattaya Hotel is permanently closed. SMI Holdings’ January 2018 notice said the final operating day would be February 28 for renovation, and independent reports place the shutdown in March 2018. Google Maps now marks the exact property closed.

The current status was re-verified on August 1, 2026. Stale hotel and review pages may still surface, but they are not current booking inventory. The Expedia archive still carries a historical review pool and a March 2018 guest report, so its modern-looking 2026 page title is a search surface, not a reopening signal. Prices, star ratings and amenities have been removed from the live-style fields.

The source trail aligns on the key point, but the dates need a contradiction note. The SMI notice says closure after February 28, while an Expedia Thailand review says guests were told March 17 or 18. The official operator notice is the stronger closure date; the later review explains why some guests remember a March shutdown. The exact-name Google result still marks the property closed, and the stale Expedia record does not create bookable inventory.

Where it actually was

The hotel stood at 369 Moo 9 on Pattaya Second Road in central Pattaya, near Beach Road. The previous page’s Pratumnak placement was incorrect.

What the property was

The property opened in 1975 as Regent Pattaya, later traded as Montien Pattaya, and then became The Imperial Pattaya Hotel. A 2015 report documents the Montien-to-Imperial change, while the historical Thai hotel record describes a 15-storey property with about 300 rooms, pools, a spa, fitness facilities, restaurants and parking. Those are historical attributes of the former hotel, not facilities available today.

The historical Expedia record also preserves two visitor-facing details that explain why old descriptions remain persuasive: a February 2018 review described the grounds as extending from Beach Road to Second Road, and another described all rooms as ocean-facing. A separate March 7, 2018 review said guests had been told the hotel would close on March 17. These are dated memories of the former property, not evidence of a successor or current access route.

What replaced it

No verified successor operation at the former Second Road property and no reopening under the Imperial identity were found. The historical slug remains so searches reach the documented closure instead of obsolete accommodation advice.
