Gletscherkuss was a bar and restaurant on Soi Diamond in South Pattaya, close to Walking Street. Der Farang described the lane as formerly known as Swiss Lane and characterised the venue as a long-standing meeting place for visitors and residents. The report names Johnny as the well-known manager associated with the venue, alongside the people credited with its history.

Historical accounts of the venue

In an August 2010 Pattaya Forum discussion, contributors placed Gletscherkuss on Soi Diamond and described it as a Swiss bar. The opening post mentioned Formula 1 screenings, a buffet for races, a happy hour and beer prices; later contributors recalled Jass, familiar faces and food. These descriptions help explain the venue’s former character, but they do not describe a present-day business.

Closure in 2017

Der Farang reported on 13 April 2017 that Gletscherkuss had closed after 28 years. According to the report, owner Othmar Kaufmann had to close when the property owner did not renew the lease and reclaimed the building. The report also recalled the venue’s parties, Jass events and Formula 1 afternoons. Its closure is the clearest current-status fact available from the opened sources.
