Joke Bar: a former Rompho Complex meeting point

Joke Bar was one of the Thai–German bars in Jomtien’s Rompho Complex. Its surviving promotional material describes Sky television, pool and billiards tournaments, and table football, while the bar’s own 2014 Pattaya Addicts blog called it a Thai–German music, sport and girls bar. This was a modest, social bar with games at its centre, not an attempt to be Walking Street.

Pool, sport and an old local scene

The historical record is detailed enough to show that the games were real rather than a generic label. Archived 2016 posts mention a pool match held at Joke Bar and a billiards-team away fixture at Simple Life. The same archive carried a 15:00–02:00 timetable and a one-night ฿50 beer promotion. Both are snapshots from 2016, so they belong in the venue’s history and not in a current plan.

Closure of the complex

The decisive later note is dated January 2019: the preserved listing says Rompho closed on 31 March 2019. It does not say whether any business reused the name, and no direct current operator source was found. This page therefore preserves Joke Bar as a closed Rompho record rather than guessing about a successor.

Practical recommendation

Use this page when an old photo, pool-team result or expat reference points to Joke Bar in Jomtien. For a current drink or game, skip the old hours and promotions completely. Look for an active venue with a direct recent listing instead of relying on a bar tied to a closed complex.
