Sityodtong Muay Thai Gym

One of the most storied Muay Thai camps in Thailand — founded in 1959 by the late Kru Yodtong Senanan, producer of 57 champions including Samart Payakaroon — now training locals and walk-in foreigners on the quiet outskirts of Pattaya.

Sityodtong is Muay Thai royalty. Founded in 1959 by the late Kru Yodtong Senanan — honoured by the Thai royal family for his contribution to the national sport — the camp has produced 57 champions, including the legendary Samart Payakaroon. Originally from Rayong, it has long been based on the quiet north-east outskirts of Pattaya in Bang Lamung, and today it’s run by Yodtong’s family, training the next generation of Thai fighters alongside walk-in foreigners.

Training here

You don’t need a booking: show up at a session, sign in, pay the fee and you’ll get pad rounds with a trainer, with bag work, running and skipping around it, and optional sparring and clinching after. Reviewers consistently single out the technical, individual coaching — this is a traditional Thai camp focused on proper technique, not a fitness-tourism factory. Two sessions run daily, roughly 08:00–10:00 and 15:00–18:00; mornings are quieter. Recent published prices are about 300 baht per session and around 10,000 baht per month — confirm current rates and times before travelling out.

Honest take

Good: authentic pedigree and champion-grade trainers; genuinely welcoming to beginners; cheap for what you get. Less good: the location is isolated — you’ll need a motorbike or taxi from town — and facilities are traditional and basic compared with modern air-conditioned fitness gyms.

Frequently asked questions

Can beginners just walk in and train?

Yes. Foreigners simply turn up during a session, sign in, pay the per-session fee and get pad work with a trainer. Sessions are individual in feel rather than big group classes, and all levels are welcome.

How much does training cost?

Recent published rates are around 300 baht per session (about 500 baht for two sessions in a day), roughly 5,500 baht per week and 10,000 baht per month, with private sessions around 600 baht. Prices change — confirm with the gym.

Where exactly is the gym?

On the rural north-east edge of Pattaya in Bang Lamung, off Sukhumvit Road — about a 10-minute motorbike-taxi ride from the Pattaya Klang–Sukhumvit intersection. Local motorbike taxis near that junction know it.

Can I stay at the camp?

Most visiting foreigners stay in town or along Sukhumvit Road near the turn-off and commute in. Ask the gym directly about current on-site accommodation options.

Location

Off Sukhumvit Road, Bang Lamung (north-east edge of Pattaya, about 10 minutes past the Pattaya Klang–Sukhumvit intersection)
