Columbia Pictures Aquaverse

South of the city on the Na Jomtien coast, Columbia Pictures Aquaverse is the water park with a Hollywood accent — billed as the world’s first theme and water park dedicated to a movie studio. Opened in October 2022 under the supervision of Sony Pictures, it took the bones of the old Cartoon Network Amazone park and rebuilt it around a line-up of famous films.

What it is

The park is organised into seven themed zones, each drawn from a Columbia/Sony property:

• Ghostbusters — slides with names like Proton Stream and Slimer Speed Racer, and a signature Water Dome plunge.
• Jumanji — jungle-adventure water rides.
• Hotel Transylvania — family zones with the film’s characters (Drac, Mavis and Blobby appear for meet-and-greets).
• Zombieland, Surf’s Up, plus the Megawave pool and a Hollywood Square central area.

The Megawave is the showpiece — a giant wave pool with concert-grade sound and big LED screens, used for shows and events. Across the zones there are 20-plus rides and attractions, from gentle family slides to faster water coasters and thrill drops, so it spans younger kids and adrenaline-chasers better than its predecessor did.

The rebrand — from Cartoon Network Amazone

If the location rings a bell, that’s because this is the site of the former Cartoon Network Amazone, which opened in 2014, closed permanently during the pandemic, and was fully rethemed and reopened as Aquaverse on 12 October 2022. Tickets and hours

• Price: The gate price is around ฿1,595; online advance tickets start near ฿1,176, saving roughly a quarter and letting you skip the queue. Children under 3 generally enter free. Budget extra for lockers and cabanas.
• Hours: Open daily 10:00–18:00, closed Wednesdays for maintenance. Rides wind down around 17:45 and last admission is mid-afternoon.
• Time needed: A half to full day — arrive at opening to get your money’s worth.

Plan your visit

Aquaverse is a drive south of central Pattaya on the Sukhumvit Road side of Na Jomtien, so sort transport in advance — a Grab, taxi or day-tour transfer is easiest. Bring or buy reef-safe sunscreen, wear water shoes if you have them, and book online before you travel both to save and to avoid the ticket line. Above all, don’t turn up on a Wednesday — that’s the one day it’s shut.

Who it’s for

Aquaverse suits families, groups of friends and film fans who want a full-scale, modern water park with recognisable theming and real thrill rides. It’s a premium-priced day out by Thai standards, so it lands best as a planned highlight rather than a casual drop-in — but for a big, high-production splash day near the beach, it’s the most ambitious water park in the immediate Pattaya area.
