One name, two Pattaya venues

The name Hang Loose appears in two different Pattaya contexts. Monelli Pattaya places Hang Loose Bar in its Soi 8 beer-bar list, which is the record covered here. Separately, Pattaya Mail documented Hang Loose at the Hard Rock Hotel in 2005, and Thai2Siam still describes an upstairs Hang Loose Bar within Hard Rock Cafe on Beach Road.

Why the distinction matters

The two locations should not be silently merged. A visitor looking for an old Soi 8 beer bar could easily arrive at the hotel instead, while someone seeking the Hard Rock venue would not be looking for a small Soi 8 listing. The available Soi 8 directory does not provide a number, contact channel, current timetable or confirmation of present operation.

Practical recommendation

Use this page as a name-and-location clarification, not a live bar recommendation. For the Hard Rock’s Hang Loose, use the cafe’s own current details. For the Soi 8 record, check the street before committing to an evening; a directory mention alone is not enough evidence that a business is still trading under that name.

More nightlife

Red Cat Bar

Red Cat Bar is an open-front hostess bar at the foot of Soi 8 on Beach Road, best suited to a daytime beer or sunset people-watching before the central nightlife becomes busier. It opens daily from 09:00 to 02:00 and has a pool table, but no current price list or reliable food menu is published. Evening visits bring louder music and more staff-drink requests.

Five Star Bar Beer

Five Star Bar Beer is a beer bar in the Pattaya Beach Road area of Central Pattaya.

Tahitian Queen Rock 'n Roll Bar

The Tahitian Queen — universally 'TQ' — is Pattaya's oldest bar, open on Beach Road since 1978 and a living piece of the city's nightlife history. It began as Pattaya's first go-go bar in the R&R era and still runs a classic-rock soundtrack behind a deliberately nondescript shopfront between Sois 12 and 13. The Pattaya Mail reported its closure after 42 years during the COVID collapse in early 2021, but TQ reopened and trades today under long-standing ownership, with its 48th anniversary party scheduled for August 2026. What sets it apart from everything around it: it opens at 1pm (a rarity for this kind of bar), the music is rock 'n roll rather than EDM, and the crowd skews toward long-time regulars, expats and returning visitors who treat it as a reunion point — the Pattaya Hash House Harriers and assorted golf societies among them. The annual calendar of in-house events (anniversary bash in mid-August, Cowboy Night in June, Halloween, a famously snow-filled Christmas) is half the institution's charm. It is an adult-oriented venue, so it isn't for everyone, but as a piece of Pattaya heritage it has no rival. Happy-hour pricing in the afternoon keeps drinks reasonable.
