Source: DASTA (Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration): Wat Nong Prue listing, checked 14 Oct 2026
What the temple is
DASTA describes Wat Nong Prue as an ancient temple of Baan Nong Prue, founded on a plain of elephant grass and swamp; its first ordination hall was founded by Luang Pho Chang, and the temple was the centre of the village.
In 2014 a fire burned the Dhamma study building, made of golden teak, with the antiques the abbot had collected. The abbot, monks and villagers built a new Dhamma study building, which now keeps the temple's important objects, including relics of the Buddha, DASTA says.
Visiting
Nong Prue is the subdistrict east of central Pattaya. Give a driver the temple's name in Thai, Wat Nong Prue, as well as the address.
Dress and behave as at any working temple: covered shoulders and knees, shoes off before you enter a hall, and quiet during prayers. See Thai etiquette.
Who it suits
It suits a short, quiet visit to a working village temple. For the temples most visitors see, compare temples and culture.
