Four days in Pattaya, day by day

Four days gives each part of Pattaya's coast a day of its own. Arrive and watch the sunset from Pratumnak Hill, spend day two in the north at the Sanctuary of Truth and Wong Amat Beach, give day three to Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan in the south with a car, and keep day four for Jomtien Beach. Stay central, and book one thing ahead: the car for day three.

Day 1: Pattaya Beach and Pratumnak Hill at sunset

Check in, then walk part of Pattaya Beach along Beach Road to learn the shape of the bay. Keep the hot middle of the day for the pool or a rest.

Late afternoon: ride up Pratumnak Hill, about 10 minutes by songthaew from Beach Road. Big Buddha HillMap: Big Buddha Hill (Wat Phra Yai) on Google Maps (Wat Phra Yai) is a working temple with free entry, reached by a staircase of around 100 steps, so cover shoulders and knees. Then go on to Pattaya ViewpointMap: Pattaya Viewpoint (Khao Phra Tamnak) on Google Maps, a separate free stop at the top of the hill, for the whole bay at sunset.

If you land late, keep day one to the beach walk and move the hill to the end of day four.

Day 2: the Sanctuary of Truth and Wong Amat Beach

Morning: take a ride-hailing car north to the Sanctuary of TruthMap: Sanctuary of Truth on Google Maps on the Naklua headland. Day tickets go on sale at 08:00, at 500 baht for adults, and a guided tour and parking are included. Arrive early, before the heat, and allow the whole morning.

Cover shoulders and knees and wear closed shoes: sarongs and shawls are lent against a deposit, and staff hand out hard hats for the active work area.

Afternoon: stay in the north and spend it on Wong Amat Beach, close to the Sanctuary and calmer than the city beach. Public access is from Naklua Soi 18 at the southern end. Ask the chair price before you sit, and swim only where the flags allow.

With children, Mini SiamMap: Mini Siam on Google Maps, Thai and world landmarks in miniature on Sukhumvit Road, suits the late afternoon instead: it is open until 19:00 and costs 300 baht, about 15 to 20 minutes by car from Pattaya Beach.

Day 3: Nong Nooch and Khao Chi Chan

Book a car with a driver for the day and agree the waiting time and the return before you set off: both stops lie south of the city, beyond the songthaew routes.

Morning: Nong Nooch Tropical GardenMap: Nong Nooch Tropical Garden on Google Maps is about 15 km south, some 20 minutes by car, and opens at 08:00. The Tourism Authority of Thailand's Tokyo office lists admission at 600 baht, but the official site sells packages of garden entry, transport and shows, so check what yours covers. Pick two or three parts, such as the formal gardens or Dinosaur Valley, and a Thai cultural show at 10:30 or 11:30.

Afternoon: stop at Khao Chi Chan on the way back, a seated Buddha image inlaid with gold on a limestone cliff. Entry is free and the visit is short, but the site is open-air with little shade, so carry water and keep your distance from the cliff face. The Tourism Authority of Thailand gives 06:00 or 08:00 to 18:00 on two pages, so arrive well before 18:00.

Evening: keep it quiet near your hotel, or see a show booked for a set time: shows in Pattaya lists the theatres and their times.

Day 4: Jomtien Beach, then an evening market or home

Morning: take a route songthaew over the hill to Jomtien Beach, about 3 km beyond Pattaya Beach, for the cooler hours on the sand. Phase 2 of its sand works runs until February 2027, so pick a stretch away from the machinery.

Afternoon: rest, or read watersports in Pattaya before you choose an operator on the beach.

Evening, if you fly tomorrow: browse Thepprasit Night MarketMap: Thepprasit Night Market on Google Maps off Sukhumvit Road, with free entry. Two July 2026 listings give Friday to Sunday, about 17:00 to 23:00, while Google Maps shows every day, so check before you go.

If you fly today, work back from your flight: the check-in deadline, live traffic and time to collect your bags. The coach from Jomtien to Suvarnabhumi leaves every hour; see Suvarnabhumi airport to Pattaya.

Where to stay, getting around and what to book

Stay in Central Pattaya: the hill, the north and Jomtien are each a short ride away. Jomtien suits a beach-first stay but makes day two's ride north longer.

Route songthaews cover Beach Road and the run over the hill to Jomtien; use a ride-hailing car for Naklua and a car for the day in the south. Getting around Pattaya explains the routes.

Book one thing ahead: the car for day three, and the Nong Nooch package if you want a set show. Leave days two and four free to swap with the weather.

Arriving from the airport: coaches run from Suvarnabhumi to North Pattaya and Jomtien. From Bangkok itself, Bangkok to Pattaya by bus compares the terminals.

Questions

Is 4 days in Pattaya enough?

Yes, for the main sights at an easy pace. Four days covers Pratumnak Hill, the Sanctuary of Truth, a garden day in the south and two beaches, one day per part of the coast. 3 days drops the Jomtien day; 5 days adds a slow day and a cooking class.

What if it rains on one of the four days?

Swap it with a drier day: days two and three are the outdoor ones. On a wet day, Underwater World Pattaya, an indoor aquarium open 09:00 to 18:00, or a mall near your hotel is simpler; see things to do when it rains.

How much does this plan cost in tickets?

About 1,100 baht a person in entry fees at the dated prices on this page: 500 baht for the Sanctuary of Truth by day and 600 baht for Nong Nooch in the tourism authority's listing. The viewpoint, Big Buddha Hill, Khao Chi Chan and the beaches are free. Add the car for day three, rides and meals; see what a Pattaya trip costs.

Can I do this with children?

Yes, with shorter days. Swap Wong Amat for Mini Siam on day two, make Dinosaur Valley one of the Nong Nooch stops, and skip the night market for an early dinner. At the Sanctuary of Truth, children under 110 cm go free.
