Foodland

Foodland on Central Pattaya Road is the go-to 24-hour supermarket for expats and self-catering travellers who want imported groceries at a fair price. Part of the long-running Thai Foodland chain and open in Pattaya since 1989, it's smaller and less flashy than the big hypermarkets but stocks the things visitors from Europe, the UK, Australia and North America often miss: proper cheeses and cold cuts, imported meat, Western baking supplies, breakfast cereals, sauces and condiments, wine and international snacks, alongside fresh Thai produce, a butchery and a bakery. Being open around the clock makes it invaluable — it's where you end up at midnight for supplies, or early morning after a flight. A signature feature is the on-site 'Took Lae Dee' diner (the name means 'cheap and good'), a counter-style café serving inexpensive Thai and Western dishes and all-day breakfasts right by the entrance — a handy, air-conditioned pit stop while you shop. There's also an in-store pharmacy. Prices on imported goods sit above local-brand equivalents (as they do everywhere in Thailand), but Foodland is generally seen as reasonable value for what it carries, and the quality and range are reliable. It's centrally located on Pattaya Klang between the beach and Sukhumvit, easy to reach by baht bus, Grab or on foot from many central hotels, with parking for drivers. For anyone renting a condo or apartment and cooking for themselves, it's one of the most useful addresses in central Pattaya.

Big C Extra Pattaya Klang

Big C Extra on Central Pattaya Road (Pattaya Klang) is the city centre's main hypermarket — the default answer to 'where do I buy everything on day one?'. The Extra format is Big C's bigger, slightly more import-friendly tier, so alongside the usual cheap Thai groceries you'll find a solid fresh-food hall, imported snacks, wine and cheese, plus clothing, electronics, homeware and pharmacy lines under one air-conditioned roof. The surrounding complex adds a HomePro home-improvement store, a cheap Thai food court, banks, phone-repair counters, a Watsons and dozens of small shops and stalls, which makes it a practical one-stop errand run for expats and long-stay visitors. Prices are noticeably lower than convenience stores and tourist-area minimarts, and it's the standard first-day shop for anyone moving into a nearby condo. The store opens daily from morning until around 22:00 (in-complex shops like Watsons run roughly 09:00–21:00; the hypermarket floor itself can open earlier — confirm locally). Getting there is easy: any baht bus running Central Pattaya Road passes the door, and there's plenty of free parking. Note the branch confusion: this is the Pattaya Klang store, distinct from Big C Supercenter near Central Marina in North Pattaya and the Big C in South Pattaya.

Villa Market

Villa Market is Pattaya's branch of Thailand's original international supermarket chain, anchoring the ground floor of The Avenue mall on Second Road. For expats and long-stayers it is the default answer to 'where do I find real cheese / decent wine / Marmite / Mexican spices': the aisles lean heavily on imported goods — European and American groceries, a proper deli and cheese counter, imported meats, wines and craft beers, plus organic lines and the fresh produce basics. Prices reflect the import duties; expect to pay well above Big C or Lotus's for anything foreign, which is exactly the trade Villa customers accept for range you cannot get elsewhere in central Pattaya. It keeps long hours — roughly 7am to 1am daily — and the location is convenient, with The Avenue's parking, a cluster of restaurants in the same complex and Second Road songthaews outside. Tourists in self-catering condos use it for breakfast supplies and wine; expats treat it as a weekly staple alongside cheaper Thai supermarkets. The chain also runs an online shop with delivery, useful for bulk or heavy orders.
