What the temple is
DASTA describes Wat Chong Samae San as the old temple of Samae San subdistrict, founded in the reign of King Rama V. At its centre stands a statue of Thao Maha Phrom, 7.8 m tall and 4.99 m wide.
Its Rahu shrine draws visitors who believe that passing under it brings success at work, prosperity and happiness, and clears away bad luck. Afterwards, people whisper a wish to a rat sculpture, believed to carry it to Ganesha.
